How do I keep my posts in order?

  1. I'm a new member and I have a question on how do I keep my posts on my blog in date order, or rather the order that I posted them? I've noticed on my blog that the posts are not in the order that I posted them. Can this be corrected? Thanks for the help.

  2. First off Link 2 your WordPress.COM blog please starting with the prefix http
So we can determine what blogging platform your blogging with so we can help you.

Also by linking your name to your blog it will serve the purposes…
If you need to ask a support question in the forum then it will make it easier for the volunteers to see what blogging platform your using & will aide them in giving you a more accurate answer to your question.

  3. And since till you do what teck07 says we can't access your blog, check this reply for the most likely cause of your problem:

  4. Here's the link to my blog: http://bobfurnell.wordpress.com/

Right now the posts are in order but from oldest to most recent, but I want them to go from most recent to oldest in date order (eg. Oct 20, 19, 18, 17, etc).

  5. Open your posts for edit, and make sure they are not marked as "sticky posts". That checkbox is right above the save button. That really is the only way they could get out of order. All wordpress.COM blogs by default list posts from the newest at the top to older ones below.

Okay. I am having the same problem with my blogs. I just want to make sure I understand. All of the old blogs have to be unchecked where it says "stick to front page"? Is that what will fix the problem?

  7. @citifieldofdreams - Yes, make sure that you have zero sticky posts. If you do not have any posts "stuck" to the front page, your normal, expected posting order will resume.

    Thank you so much bubel.

  9. I think I am having the same problem, I have a Title that has not moved down with the rest of the post/images I haave tried to move but it still remains scrunched into the right hand corner. I don't know much about blogging and need baby steps to adjust, please help me reneorgeron

  10. @reneorgeron: No, you're not having the same problem. Your problem is this:

    http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/05/30/why-is-my-sidebar-at-the-bottom-of-my-posts/

You've got the same material (the "Take It Further Challenge" links) in two text widgets; the second (titled "ringsurf") is correct, the first (untitled) has the code pasted wrong, and that breaks your sidebar. Go to Design > Widgets, remove the untitled one, save changes.

There may be other formatting problems, too, but I won't be able to locate them unless you correct the sidebar first. Try the above and let me know if everything went back to normal or not.

Note that "Fabric Birds" is not the title but the first phrase of that post: you have forgotten to add a title.

  11. Hi. I have a similar problem except my posts are in a completely random order... they've been like that ever since I first installed WordPress but it just now started bothering me. I'd really appreciate it if someone could check out my page ( http://www.reviewbidets.com ), click on one of the categories and help me out. Thanks!

  12. nickdrake - you are in the wrong forum. This forum is for blogs hosted at wordpress.COM. Since you are self-hosted, you need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support

  13. @nickdrake: You are a stupid liar. Calling Mods!

  14. Ahh, thanks vivian.

  15. I am a new blogger (http//agentstokes.wordpress.com). I too have questions about reordering posts. there is one post that I want to put at the bottom of the front page. How do I do that? Also, I could not find the button to make a post a sticky post. I am new, so please excuse my ignorance.

    Thanks,

    Neil

  16. In the publish box at the right of the editor text area, click on the "edit" link to the right of "visibility." The sticky post option is now there.

As far as sticking a post to the bottom of the page, that is not possible, only sticking it to the top of the page.
