How do i make the white a little transparent in the Funki theme

  1. How do i make the white a little transparent in the Funki theme?

    Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is recreate-urself.com.

  2. This is what I get when I click on your username:

    casamah.wordpress.com is no longer available.

    The authors have deleted this blog.

    We need a link to the site you are talking about.

  3. I did the following based on the demo site. Since I couldn't look at your site to see if you had done something that would require a different approach, I can't guarantee this is what you want.

    Create a PNG image with the level of transparency that you want and make it about 5px x 5px. Upload it to your media library, get the URL of that image and then put it into the background declaration shown below (where URL OF IMAGE is between the quote marks). Add this code to the bottom of your existing CSS.

    .site {
    background: url("URL OF IMAGE") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    }
  4. i only started the learning the tutorial for the css code and i still don't know how to add it to the code. Also, what software should i use to create a png image?
    Thanks so much

  5. The code above will work then. Thanks for the link.

  6. To add it, go to appearance > custom design > CSS, delete the informational text in the text area and paste the above code in.

    As far as image editing programs, I don't know what you have, or what OS you are using (Windows, Mac, etc.). Most image editing programs such as Photoshop, or GIMP, etc., will allow you to create PNG images and set levels of transparency. There are ways to do this purely with CSS, but the issue is all browsers do not recognize it, and in addition, the CSS in this theme is not structured correctly for a CSS only solution. That is why I suggested the image instead.

  7. Thanks again.

    i added the code as below:

    .site {
    background: url("file:///Users/Chris/Desktop/unt.png") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    }

    the white is completely gone. it's completely transparent. it didn't even read the image.

    can you please help. maybe the code is wrong?

    thanks

  8. You have to upload the image to your media library on your blog. When you do that, the URL for that uploaded image will be in a grey field down toward the bottom of the upload page. That is the URL you have to put into the code.

  9. You can upload it at media > add new in your dashboard.

  10. OK. so I uploaded the image into my media library on my blog. Used the code, as is. the image is there. but it's not transparent. it's still a light greyish white. but no transparency.
    Although i made the image's opacity 30% when i saved it on illustrator and then made it into a png? I don't get it.

  11. What is the URL of the image?

    Also, do you have the custom design upgrade?

  12. Ok, that image is 1024px x 1024px and that isn't going to work. That image cannot be tiled the way it is designed.

    What exactly are you wanting? I was thinking you wanted to just adjust the opacity of the white.

  13. Yea... that's exactly what i want. To adjust the opacity of the white to like 60% so i can see the rainbow background as well as seeing the fonts and stuff clearly.

  14. Ok, here is a 60% image for you. Download it to your computer, upload it to your media library and use it.

  15. BTW, it is nearly 4am here in the middle of the Pacific and I need to shut down and go to bed, so if you need to adjust the opacity (which you might want to (perhaps 65 or 70%) I'll have to do it in the morning.

  16. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! I really appreciate it! I downloaded, used it and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the wonderful support. :)

  17. Of course it can wait till tomorrow. Again, Thanks so much. Goodnight

  18. You are welcome.

  19. Hey. I have a question. How do i add a picture or banner to my side bar in the widgets? Is there some sort of HTML code to add pictures or music to the sidebar using the "text" widget?

    Also, can i please ask you to send me a white background with a 75% opacity please? I still can't seem to figure out how to do it!

    THANKS.....

  20. For images, you can use an image widget which is much easier than writing all the code.

    For an audio player in the sidebar, you would need to use the gigya shortcode. Panos has a number of alternative audio players in a post on his site: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/alternative-audio-players/ .

  21. Hi, I have a similar question about the Forever theme - if I buy the custom design option through wordpress.com could I make the background image show through the foreground and all the posts?

    thanks,
    Bojana

  22. Sure, you could do the same thing in Forever by setting the #page selector up with a transparent PNG image:

    #page {
        background: url(YOUR_IMAGE_URL);
    }

    Change YOUR_IMAGE_URL to an image link to an image you've uploaded to your media library.
