That's the way that theme is designed. You could move the footer if you understand CSS editing and buy the custom design upgrade.

Are there any themes that I don't have to pay for that provide the sidebar to be on either side? Thanks!

Most of them do. Just use the theme search filter on the Themes page of your dashboard to find two column or more themes.
