I switched themes and set up new widgets, but somehow the old widgets have attached themselves to the bottom of the page. The new/current/widgets I want are just fine on the right side near the top, but I would like to erase the old/previous widgets that are clogging up the bottom of the screen. Help?

How do I remove old widgets when I change themes?

When you change themes widgets you currently use will be found in the Inactive Widgets box here > Apperance > Widgets
And, you can remove any widgets you do not wish to use here > Apperance > Widgets -
The sidebar on your theme is displaying below the posts see here for how to deal with that issue http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/sidebar-at-the-bottom-and-related-issues/

Forget "how to deal with that issue" because you're not having that issue. Go to Appearance > Widgets, open Footer #1, open each widget, click Delete.

Ah, justpi. You have solved my silly confusion. (I never saw the point of footers and therefore never investigated them.) Thanks much; it all looks much better now.
