How do I unfollow a blog with an old address that does not have an account here?

  1. I'm in the process of switching email accounts. I unsubscribed from the one blog I follow here, changed the email I have on file from the old one to the new one, resubscribed to the blog, and thought that would be the end of it. However, I'm still getting posting announcements to the old address - and now there's no account associated with that address. How do I get it to stop?

  2. What is the URL please?

I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. The URL for the blog is http://parahumans.wordpress.com/

Thanks for flagging it and the help.

  4. That blog is registered to a different account. You'll need to log into that account in order to make changes to the blog. You can read more in this guide on how to add users to your blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users

If you don't have access to your account or forgot the password, you can request a new password over here.

Please follow the instructions carefully. You'll receive two separate emails during the reset process, so make sure you read them both. If you don't receive the emails right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation emails can get caught in them sometimes :)

  5. I think something might have gotten misunderstood, and for a change it might not have been me.

That blog is registered to a different account. You'll need to log into that account in order to make changes to the blog.

That blog is not mine. I do not have a blog here. At all. I never have had one, and because of my schedule (and the fact that I'm horrible about updating), never expect to have one. That blog is someone else's. I simply follow it.

I used to follow it on one email address. I created an account to make comments (which never quite worked, because my phone and this software argue). I am in the process of cancelling that email address. As part of that process, I changed over my account here from that old email address to this new email address.

However, that old email address is STILL GETTING updates from that blog. It should not be. I don't want it to be. I have to have that address around (for reasons) for a while longer, but it needs to stop receiving email. How do I get it to stop receiving the blog updates when there is no "unsubscribe from this blog" in the update mails?

The old email address has no account because I changed the account to my new one.

  6. there is no "unsubscribe from this blog" in the update mails

That, indeed, is very odd, because each notification of a new post email sent by WordPress.com does have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Regardless, I think this might be complicated by the fact that you've also changed the email address associated with your account, so I'll tag this again for staff assistance.

  7. There is one other thing you can try until staff can assist.

Go to http://subscribe.wordpress.com/ while logged out of WordPress.com and use the old email address in the Manage Your Subscriptions box; don't log in.

  8. That, indeed, is very odd, because each notification of a new post email sent by WordPress.com does have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

I suspect that the sheer length of each new post notification (they were huge) was why there wasn't a link at the bottom - the email was getting cut off before the end.

The second to most recent post was considerably shorter, and did have a unsubscribe link. I was able to use it and successfully unsubscribe from the notifications (YAY!). I then used Jennifer's suggestion of the Manage Your Subscriptions while not logged in and using the old email address to confirm that I had no subscriptions left (YAY!).

The most recent post only went to the email address it was supposed to. I have no idea why it got confused in the first place, but it's fixed now, so I'm happy - and now there's a known repair for when it does get confused (Manage Your Subscriptions), so I guess that makes The Community a happier place, too.

    Thank you, folks.

  9. Good job! I'm glad it's fixed now :)
