I have mapped my 1and1.com domain to my wordpress blog, it works fine, now I would like to use my email from 1and1..my domain is franklinmcmahon.com. There are not specific instructions to using my 1and1 email associated with my domain. I do see the Domains/Custom DNS records in my settings, I just want to make sure I don't mess anything up. How should I proceed? Thanks!

I had the same problem. Thanks to Bryan Villarin I can now use my 1and1 email with wordpress. For that follow those instructions :
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/
and then for 1and1 just enter :
MX 10 mx00.1and1.com.
MX 20 mx01.1and1.com.
Save and it's done !

I'm having the same problem. I initially entered:
MX 10 mx00.1and1.com.
MX 20 mx01.1and1.com.
As shown above. It did not work for me. I contacted 1and1 tech support and asked. They advised me to enter:
MX 10 00.1and1.com.
MX 20 01.1and1.com.
Still not working.
Can anyone advise on which one is right? How long do I have to wait?

That's weird... The change was automatic for me...
When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.
Has your email started working correctly by now?
