I would like to use this blog again for another section of this course and may want to use some of the existing posts. Rather than delete them and start again, how can I just hide the posts (like you would hide a topic in a moodle) so that you can simply unhide when you get to to that topic again.
C'est possible? or should I create another blog and copy posts over as I need them

You can password protect posts or you can set the visibility to "private".

Protected – The post is protected with a password you set. Any user that has the password can view a protected post.
Private – Posts are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private posts are not visible in Blog Surfer, feeds, or in any search. A post can be private without being password protected.
Is there any damage leaving the content up? Will any damage be done by having the old assignments visible?
If not - then just leave the old course material up and then make new assignments as you decide to revise the course content.
