How do you make sustainability appeal to the masses?

  1. I'm currently working on a blog with the goal in mind to open up the subject of sustainability to people who normally wouldn't care about it. Does anyone have some good ideas on how to make this happen. First off, I'm trying to keep the writing style away from the pillowey fluff that usually comes along with "green" conversations. I've picked a non-hippie title so people aren't automatically turned off by thinking "oh he's just a leftist hop head." Does anyone out there have ideas in how to make this subject appeal to the broader audience? If your someone who normally wouldn't care about sustainability for whatever reason, what might make you give reading about it a try?

The blog I need help with is brokeandgreen.wordpress.com.

  2. I love the idea! I think it's great that you're trying to bring 'green' ideas to a level where the people who don't currently support the ideals, CAN support them. That is to say, you are attempting to speak to them 'in their language.'

Given that the typical non-green person (on average) is a conservative republican, I would look at a profile of what someone who calls themselves a conservative republican likes and doesn't like. This might not be the end-result of your search, but it is a great place to start looking.
