How do you publicise with Pinterest?

  1. I am trying to build a network, setting it up so that my blog entry from wordpress automatically transfers to my twitter, tumblr etc.
With publicise i can do all of that, but i can't find a way to connect my Pinterest account. Is there an easy way to do that?

The blog I need help with is exploretanzania.wordpress.com.

  2. The only options to publicize your posts automatically are found under Settings ->Sharing and they are Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Path: http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

The only sharing option to Pinterest is to add the Pinterest button at the bottom of your posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

It might be possible to import your blog's feed to Pinterest, but I'm guessing here as I don't use Pinterest. If that's at all possible the instruction will be in Pinterest's support documents.

  3. Thank you kokkieh.
this would have been the only reason for me to use pinterest lol.

  4. Glad I could help :)

  5. i was having the same problem. I went to the "sharing" page and added a pinterest icon but it doesn't show up anywhere on mu blog post. WHY!!?? thanks if anyone can help

Not exactly the same problem, but no worries. I do see the Pinterest sharing button on your pages (though I also see you have only page titles published and no content on them). On the home page the button will only appear if you have posts on which it can appear. At present you don't have any posts, which is why you don't see it.

To control whether or not the button appears on individual posts and pages, look for the Likes and Shares module on the post/page editor.

To control whether the button appears on the home page feed instead of only on single post pages, go to Settings ->Sharing and look for and select:
Show buttons on __Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results

  7. You can publicize to Path, but you can only share to Pinterest. Some people get those "P" icons confused.

@jacqueline-I see the Pinterest sharing icon on your About page, your Style page, etc. Where were you expecting them to appear?

  8. Whoops! Needed to refresh. :)

  9. :-D

  10. I can't seem to figure out how to allow my blogs/pictures to be shared on pinterest. I have tried just about everything that I have read on the internet from download/uploading a picture and then copying the pinterest html into a sidebar text widget. I have also tried adding the service using the "sharing" tab and trying to add it to enables services. Nothing has seemed to work. Any help would be appreciated.

This the blog that I need help with: http://melissanortonprojects.wordpress.com/

The only way to let users easily share your WordPress.com blog on Pinterest is by adding the Pinterest button under Settings ->Sharing. As stated above, you cannot connect Pinterest via Publicize and there's no way to auto-share your blog posts to Pinterest: http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

To display your Pinterest profile on your blog, you can embed from Pinterest following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/embed-from-pinterest/

You can also create your own Pinterest widget that will take readers to your Pinterest profile when clicked by following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/create-your-own-widget/#creating-your-own-widget
