How does one migrate a blog?

    I have a wordpress blog on my livebooks site, which means some of the features (and perhaps the architecture?) has been modified by LB to fit their needs. I want my blog to be free standing, not hosted by them. How do I do this? Assume you are explaining this to your 90 year old grandmother, please. I have read a little that implies that when one uses the migrate feature that the photos do not automatically move with the rest of the information? Is that true? How does one move the photos too?

    To where do I move what I have exported? (So again, assume I know nothing...) Do I have to set up a blog account here, import what I have exported, etc? Will the themes, colors, etc all remain intact? If there is a resource that does explain it all as a step by step that would be much appreciated, as what I have seen in the support forums here is all quite technical and limited in scope. Thanks!

    Actually I am asking about how to move a blog to this site, so would that not be appropriate to this forum? The link you provide that purports to explain the difference between the .com and the .org is extremely confusing and technically written. Perhaps it can be re-written for people without technical or engineering backgrounds or technical inclinations to understand. Thanks!

    Will you please provide a link starting with http:// to the site you want to move your content into? Once you do that we can provide accurate instructions.

    Sorry about not being clear. I am trying to determine how feasible this is & whether I want to undertake it. I don't have a url yet. Before I jump that gun I need to find out what is involved. Thanks.

    So if I want to move it to wordpress.com I would need to get a url hosted by them, is that correct?

    Yes --> register blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
    In order to import the content it must be first exported from the original site into an XML file. Importing Content from Another Platform > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/
