I deleted a load of writing about 4 days ago, but it still appears in searches. How long will it take for Google to catch up with what I changed the writing to?

Google needs some time to update its index. WordPress.com has no control on how your site appears in the Google index and in which position.
Please be patient, in the meantime, Google Webmaster Tools has some more info that you can take a look at:
