a) How many times a week do you post?
b)How many times a week do you think one should post? I mean, from a reader/followers perspective, how many posts a week would you honestly like another person to post?
The blog I need help with is findin42.wordpress.com.
AS I am part of WP's Postaday2011 chappenge, I post once a day - sometimes twice if something exciting happens!
I have no thoughts about how many times others should post - that is entirely up to them!
Once per week on average as the posts are usually 500-700 words.
I wouldn't have the time to post more than twice per week and I don't think the content would warrant it.
As for other people, if they feel that they have enough content to post daily and keep the site fresh, then more power to them.
As a new blogger its tough... the day after I post I begin to worry that I need new content... I new to resist that urge and allow posts to marinate, as it were. Plus, i try not to post for posting sake...
Right now, I'm at about twice a week
I used to post something every weekday. Then I read somewhere that a post left up for a couple of days will get consistent traffic and give people time to find it.
I put up a post last Friday and I got 157, 176, and 97 views over three days.
New post two days ago and got 115, 104, and 84 today (so far).
I think posting every day when you're brand spanking new is a good idea since you're probably only getting your family and friends to read it. Once they've passed it on or you get some "unknown" readers and search engines can find you, you can relax and put more time into each post.
@tltcl You're right about fresh content. The first 3 or 4 weeks of my blog have some embarrassing posts. I sounded like a raving madwoman. :-)
I aim to post twice weekly to both blogs and usually do. I found that if I have a couple of days between posts I do get more views and comments than I did when I tried posting every day. I assume this is because my subscribers are busy and don't drop everything they are doing and zoom over to my blog every time I publish a post.
I post once a day its great for me but it isnt possible for some people.
I try to get 4-5 a week. So far so good. Some short, some long.
I don't think the amount/size really need to be set in stone- find a rhythm where you can get could content going that engages readers.
passionate4pikes - I am impressed that you manage to find something to say about fish every day! By the way, I like the new look to your blog. I seem to recall it had a different design last time I clicked through.
I generally recommend three times a week minimum. It's not necessary to post daily, but it's a good idea.
It depends on what your blogs about. If your blogging about news and what not then post at least 4 times a week but if your doing it based off of certain events in your life (like mine) you should post 1-2 times a week. I personally post once a week.
Why "should?"
Is that how you naturally feel like expressing yourself? Or are you saying that's what your readers like?
Lately I have not had much time to post. I could probably count my last posts in months instead of weeks. The kids are getting close to summer vacation and the planning has already begun! But I think once a week is a good rate for blogging. Otherwise the topics could become dull unless you have a very active lifestyle. And with two young children, I'm to whooped to write as often as I would like!
On my horse blog, I sometimes post almost every day. On my greeting cards blog, I post once or twice a week. I find that what works for you is best.
I can't post most of the time; and usually only on weekends.
