Are you referring to a private blog? You can add 35 users to your private blog, and you can purchase the Unlimited Private Users upgrade if you want to add more. If you are referring to a public blog then there is no limit on how many official users you can add to your blog.

And what is then the difference between a public and a private blog? If I understand right, the public is the one others can read, while the prive is for the users eyes only?

If you choose 1. then yours will be a public blog and that means everyone on the internet can read your blog and allows your blog to be included in search engines and other content sites.
