how many visitors

  1. How do you tell how many visitors have visited your site?

  2. The stats system here will tell you how many page views there have been. It does not tell you how many unique visitors. If you want this information then you can add a free counter to your blog. Information on free stat counters can be found in the FAQs blog http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/28/can-i-have-a-statcounter-on-my-blog/
If you have other questions about stats this FAQs entry may be helpful as well http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/02/09/questions-about-stats/

  3. I have used several types and find Active Meter is good. http://www.activemeter.com
It is free, simple to set up (past code in a text widget on the side bar) and it displays, page loads, unique visitors, first time visitors and repeat visitors.

  4. I use sitemeters on my blogs and am pleased with the reports I get http://sitemeter.com/
It's important to note that they have a non-javascript version specially for wordpress.com blogs.
