how to add a forum to my wordpress site ?

  1. Hello, does anyone know how to add a forum to a wordpress site ?

  2. WordPress.com isn't a forum host, but if you get a forum hosted elsewhere, you can use a Custom Header, Alert, sticky post, or text widget to link to and feature it on your blog.

  3. You might also review the Terms of service

  4. Best solution, in my opinion, is phpbb.

If you go to my blog http://thethirdbarcom.wordpress.com/ and click on COMMUNITY you can see what those forums look like.

Feel free to let me know if you need help setting it up.

  5. @samdurrant
That's not possible here at WordPress.com. Please stop posting solutions that only apply to self hosted WordPress.org installs on this forum. It confuses people unnecessarily and you have done that 3 times today already. Read this > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Then go to the correct support forum here http://wordpres.org/suppoert/ and do your posting there.

  6. Why is it not possible? You can set up a forum and link to it in the custom menu, that doesn't seem to do any harm to anyone?

It even says that in the link you posted:

"(3) Register a forum on the internet and then create a custom menu in your blog and include a custom link to the forum in it."

And there is no need for bold writing. Sorry but I think you're being a little rude.

  7. You can set up a forum and link to it in the custom menu, that doesn't seem to do any harm to anyone?

I describe how to do that fully here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/23/wordpress-com-forum-options/

  8. @samdurrant:

To be clear: your forum is hosted elsewhere just as raincoaster advised above: it is not hosted here on WordPress.COM.

    This is what she said:

WordPress.com isn't a forum host, but if you get a forum hosted elsewhere, you can use a Custom Header, Alert, sticky post, or text widget to link to and feature it on your blog.

  9. I never said the forum is hosted on WP.com. I know it's not.

'fuckaroundasia' asked how to add one to his/her WP blog, and I said she can link to a php forum. I don't see why that causes trouble.

  10. This thread was created on Sep 18, 2012, 8:36 PM and it was answered on the same day. Five full days later you are using the searchbox and dredging up old threads (3 times now) and seems to indicate your motivation for posting into these threads is to get hits. We were not born yesterday and I suggest you go to your blog and get busy there.

  11. Excuse me? I had a question about the milestone widget and saw some other threads and thought I'd offer some help. That's why I said I'd help with a phpbb forum if needed.

"I suggest you go to your blog and get busy there."

    Very polite.
