How to add Amazon Widgets to my wordpress?

  1. I have been trying to add the code from Amazon to my WordPress blog on the page as a Widget but every time I copy and paste it disappears? Where can I add it to my blog? Does it go into a "text" section? Because that is where I am adding it but it will not show up.
    Cheers
    Lisa

The blog I need help with is mangosteenhealth.wordpress.com.

  2. I also have this problem. It doesn't show anything after I paste the html code to the "text"
section, but it did show the particular words on this section, if I just type some words in the"text" instead of html code.

P.S., my WP is in chinese.

What can I do to deal with this problem?

Does anyone read what can and cant be done on WordPress, com anymore? Amazon widgets are not gonna work and no advertisement is allowed on wordpress.com outside of your own products or an occasional link as an amazon affiliate.

  4. Amazon widget code contains code which is stripped out for security reasons. And Amazon affiliate text links are, in general, banned from WP.com as a violation of the Terms of Service. There are very limited exceptions; when in doubt, ask staff.

  7. Ok...I'm using WordPress software on a site that I own...does that mean the iframe HTML won't work anymore...if so...I'm gonna...I don't know what I'll do...but it is frustrating.

  8. @bighonkin, if you are self-hosted, you are in the wrong forum. Self-hosted blogs are supported over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ . This forum is for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service.

Please read the following support documents:
types of blogs allowed and not allowed and take particular note of this section and the forum thread link in it.

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. Here is a thread in the support forums that talks more about which affiliate links are OK or not OK. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/ <.blockquote>

    As raincoaster said above:

If you want a monetized blog and your plans for it mean it will not be among the kind of blogs that are allowed here, then you are in the wrong place. Your best bet is to spend $5 - $7 per month on web hosting and get a free software install from wordpress.ORG.

The differences are clearly explained in a sticky post at the head of this forum and also in support documentation http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  12. I spent hours with the same issue before finding a solution so I have just added a quick post to my own blog explaining how to add Amazon products or widgets to your WordPress blogs.
    http://icantutorials.com/webdesign/how-to-add-amazon-products-and-widgets-to-wordpress.html
When you are in wordpress make sure you are the HTML code and not the visual code. Paste your code and update the page. If you paste your code and you go to your visual tab the code will disappear. You need to update the page while you are still in HTML view.
Hope this helps everyone who is having this problem.

  13. @ icantutorials, That will NOT work here at wordpress.COM. We can't advertise or do affiliate marketing on our blogs. It is against the terms of service.

What you wrote will only work with self-hosted blogs. You need to familiarize yourself with the differences by reading the sticky post at the top of the main forum page about the differences.
