How to add menus in the primary menu bar at the top?

  1. Hi.. Iam using Contempt theme for my blog page and trying to add menus in the header primary menu bar, but couldn't able to add that. Can anyone pls guide me how to add menus in the primary bar.Thanx

The blog I need help with is sosolb.wordpress.com.

  2. Thanks for your reply mspotilas. Can i add footer menus separately in the blog

  3. You can create more than one menu but on the theme you selected, there's room for only one menu in the header. The rest go on the sidebar.

  4. Is there a way to find out which themes support multiple menus on top?

  5. Yes. There is a features filter in the Themes Showcase that you can use. http://theme.wordpress.com/

I'm looking for expertise on the possibility of adding a custom menu to Hemingway theme as a left side bar or in the header. Any suggestions?

  7. @makingwordscount: The blog linked to your username uses Wu Wei, not Hemingway. We need the URL of your blog, starting with http://, preferably in a new thread.

  8. @@makingwordscount:
On Hemingway when you click into the custom menu page you see this:

The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.

    See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/
I just did this in my test blog.

  9. @timethief: yes, but which is the one that lets you see that multiple themes are allowed? i only see "custom menu" on the filters.

  10. @igenack: Does this help?

Enterprise, Motion, and Titan have two header menus: pages and categories.

I'm sorry, I'm starting a second blog called http://www.themannerborn.wordpress.com and want to make sure I'm not getting in over my head. I'd like a theme that has a one column and two column page template option which is possible with Hemingway.

I love the design of Hemingway but don't see having the menus on a bottom sidebar as realistic for most visitors. I'm wondering if its possible using CSS to put a second sidebar on the left hand side or at the top as navigation.

Thank you for the responses - very much appreciated.

Incredibly lame but I haven't been able to figure out how to start a new thread...

Anyone have time to weigh in on whether it is possible to add an additional sidebar to the Hemingway Theme (left preferably)?

  14. @makingwordscount:
Yours request is off-topic in this thread. It can be made to the Theme Team in a new thread that you post into the correct forum. Here's the link to do that with. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes
