I have been trying for hours and it's so frustrating that I can't seem to add the secondary menu correctly on this theme.
My problem is that each time I add another secondary menu it would just populate the one on top and remove the previous one I added. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong so if somebody can please teach me, I'd really appreciate it.

I have the same problem! I want to change the format of my secondary menu (on the left) and make it very similar to the primary menu (on the left). Can anybody help?
To add it, angeliacasto, you have to do it the appearance/menus.
On your left you shoul have defined two menus. The first will appear on left with black background, the second one will appear as an (horrible) bullet list.
Can anybody help me in changing this format? I have the css upgrade!

You have to create a custom menu with your items in it and then assign that menu to the "secondary" location.

How can i change background in my secondary menu, but only for some items (category)?
My secondary menu is displaying some categories: let's say a, b, c, d, e, f.
I would like to change the background of d, e, f.

You can't change the background color in the without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade and doing the CSS editing required.

I did the css update, but it's not clear to me, if i can change the background color of only some cateories of my secondary menu (oxygen theme).
My secondary menu has a black background, and i would like to have some categories (namely ricette del cuore, tempo, occasione, menu) with a red or a grey background.
For the other categories (namely primi, carne, pesca, dolci, etc.) i would like to mantain the black background.
Yes, you can change it. But CSS questions must be posted in the CSS forum.
By the way, the tertiary menu in Oxygen isn't a "(horrible) bullet list", it's a horizontal menu in the footer area.
