how do I add something to my blog that can enable people to "sign up" to be notified when my next book becomes available? I think there is some form I can add but where do I get it and how do I add it to my blog?
The blog I need help with is vidyasamson.wordpress.com.
There's nothing that will do it automatically via WordPress, but what you can do is use a Contact Form. That sends an email to the email address that registered the blog, and you can just put people on a list there so that when you want to notify them all you can do it with one click.
Thanks, but where do i find such a contact form? I'm sure there must be one ready made that i can copy or somehow add to teh blog?

But how can I notify people with one click? If they send me their emails I assume I’ll have to compose a mass email to all of them and send that. and that could be caught by their spam blockers. How do I avoid that?
Yes, you will have to send them a mass email. What you're proposing IS a mass email system. And yes, ALL automated responses tend to get blocked by spam blockers.
To avoid that, use the Contact Form and just respond to them one by one when your new book is available.
How do I add buttons like Reddit, Digg, Delicious, and Stumbleupon to my blog posts? I see the twitter and Facebook buttons appear automatically but not these others. I searched in my new post section but cant see any way to do it.

I don’t understand it. I went to My Settings--Account-- and kept trying to change my user name but whenever I click the change button, nothing happens except the page is refreshed.
I want to change the name of my blog from vidyasamson to Life in the Cow Lane: Vidya’s India Diaries.
But I don’t see how I can.
That's not your USERNAME. That's the Blog name. Just change it under Dashboard->Settings->General.
