How to apply premium themes?

  1. I am currently working with a client to redesign his website and am attempting to use the "Photographer" premium theme from WordPress.com; however, I believe he may be using WordPress.org (he has no idea how it is set up). Is there any possible way to purchase this theme and use it for his WordPress website?

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is albatest.wordpress.com.

  2. WordPress.com and WordPress.org run different versions of themes by the same name.

Note: Premium Themes that are licensed for WordPress.com use only cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

If your client purchased the WordPress.com version then he or she has direct access to the theme's description here. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/photographer/

Also note that part of what he or she purchased is support direct from the theme's designer and the person with the username account who purchased the theme can post to the Premium Theme Support forum for the theme to get help with it http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/photographer in the Premium Theme Support forum.

  3. Note that we do not provide support here at WordPress.COM for any installs of WordPress.ORG software. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs being hosted right here on this multiuser blogging platform.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If your client does not have a username account at WordPress.ORG they need to click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so they can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  4. Thank you very much!

  5. You're welcome.
