How to control who can post?

I'm just getting started with WordPress, and I would like to allow members of a separate listserv to post to my blog. I believe I initially set it up to allow anyone with a WordPress account to post, although I can't locate that option anymore. Some of our members would like their posts to be proofread first, so now I'd like to be able to easily change anyone who posts to "contributor" status. So far, it looks like anyone is able to immediately post to the blog, and when they do, they don't show up as users, so I can't even adjust their status.

Ideally, I'd like to just give every member of our listserv permission to post to the blog. I'd like to demote those who wish their posts proofread first to "contributor." Is there any easy way to achieve this?

The blog I need help with is psdhandlersspeak.wordpress.com.

  2. The people will have to get wordpress.COM accounts (they do not have to have or get a blog) and then you can add them as contributors to your blog. Their posts will then be held for you to approve and publish.

  3. The author role, as you will read, allows a person to write and publish posts without approval.

Thanks, but how do I keep just anyone with a WP account from posting on my blog? Shouldn't there be a way to keep random folks from adding posts?

  6. @psdhandlersspeak - for the P2 theme settings in "Appearance>Theme Options>Posting Access", you can uncheck to allow anyone with a WordPress.com account to post.

  7. @bluestone1205- change the roles of your users to contributors. Read the two Support docs tsp linked to above.

If you are the Admin on the blog, in your Dashboard>User>User Roles, you can bulk change your users to be contributors. If you don't see this option, you aren't Admin on the site.
