How to create links from one post to another

1. Forgive me as I'm new to this but I cannot figure out how to create a link from the text in one topic to a topic title all in the same blog. I've tried looking at the FAQs and searching questions but have found no suitable answer. Any help is appreciated!

2. Do you mean page jump links like this? http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/06/how-do-i-page-jump/

3. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/how-to-write-links/

this should be the one you're looking for, yes? all i had to do was type 'links' in the faq searchbox...

or are you referring to something else? if yes, please describe in more detail...

4. First get the URL of the post that you want to go to. I suggest the link that goes to the single-post page with the comments below.

Then in the post you are writing, highlight the text you want to use as the link, and click the icon above the writing area with the two connected chain-looking links. Click on that and then enter the URL into the pop up and click the OK button and that text is now a link to the other post.

5. @sulz

create a link from the text in one topic to a topic title all in the same blog

I'm assuming that what's meant in "all in the same posts" but maybe you're right and the blogger couldn't find the how to write links entry in the FAQs.

6. Hi timethief. I don't believe it's a page jump since I want to go from one post to another. Maybe I'm wrong.

sulz - I did see that entry but don't see how to create the anchor (if that's the right terminology). The instruction is a bit confusing. I see how to create a link but not how to tell where to link to. Hope that makes sense.

thesacred path - how would I get the URL of the post I want to go to? If I know that I think you may have answered my question!

Wow you are all FAST! Thanks!

7. Actually even better would be the ability to link from text in one post to text in another. Still need that anchor to jump to..... I can't believe I'm asking this. It should be so easy!

8. The link TT gave you at the top would do that.

9. Page jump to codeword in another page:
This is the link that will take you to the codeword on the other page: this is the text that will be used as the link

This goes at the place on the landing page where you want to jump to:

10. Sorry, forgot the backticks

This is the link that will take you to the codeword on the other page: this is the text that will be used as the link

This goes at the place on the landing page where you want to jump to:

11. Thanks. I will go try again. My first attempt failed :( But it's probably user error now...

12. Hi thesacredpath. What do I use for "pageto linkto"? That seems to be the factor that I think is holding me up.

13. That will be the URL of the page that you want to land on. and the "this is the text.." is the text within the page you are coming from that you want the visitor to click on.

14. how do i get that url????? sorry to ask so many questions.

15. HOLY COW! It worked. Thank you a million times over!!!!!!!!

16. You're very welcome. It's a confusing thing until you once do it and then it makes sense.

17. I work in the tech industry. This should have been a piece of cake. But, I guess this blogging thing is new to me. PHEW. So appreciated!

18. I've worked in tech all my life, and html can be confusing. I didn't figure out the jumps until just about a week ago and put together that little thing I pasted in just for a case such as this. Now I'm glad I did. I still need to add some explanation and polish it up.

You're very welcome and happy blogging.

19. YAY! another happy camper. :)
