How to create page jumps from one posting to another

  1. I am not computer savvy and I am learning as I go.

I am trying to create a page jump from my most recent posting to a past posting. I have referenced Support: Splitting Content » Page Jumps as well as a forum question November 30, 2007, "How to set up a jump between pages?"

This is the code I input at the start of my new posting:
    February 25, 2012
This code is a combination of both of the above articles. I am able to click on February 25, 2012 but I get a message that states, "This is something embarrassing, isn't it?" Page not found.

This is the code I entered at the beginning of the jump to page:

I haven't officially posted my new posting; I use "preview" to see if the jump works.

    Thank you,
    Cyndi

I have spent hours on this. Can anyone help me with this?

The blog I need help with is advocateofhope.wordpress.com.

  2. Obviously, I can't type in the codes I used.

  3. If you want to go to a past Post - just make a regular link to the Post - use the chain link thing in the top row of the editor - that will send you to the past Post - I hand code related links all the time

  4. a) To display code here you need to paste it between backticks - see below reply field.

    b) Do you want to link to the beginning of the other post or to a specific point in it?

  5. Thank you for responding.

This is the code I typed on the new posting:

    <a href="http://advocateofhope.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/cancerchondria…rust-some-more/#jump">February 25, 2012</a>

This is the code at the top of the "jump to" page:

    <a name="http://advocateofhope.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/cancerchondria…rust-some-more"></a>

I am trying to jump to the beginning of a posting; I am not referencing something in the middle of the posting.

  6. That's wrong, but you don't need it anyway: page-jump coding is used to jump to a point other than the beginning.

This is the URL of the post you want to link to:
    http://advocateofhope.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/cancerchondriac-and-to-trust-some-more/

The code you need in the new post is this - just this:
    <a href="URL HERE">LINKING TEXT HERE</a>

And you don't even need code: you can type the linking text (February 25, 2012), highlight it, click on the link tool (chain icon in the Visual editor), paste the URL, click Add Link.

  7. Justpi! the link tool worked!! this is much simpler than what I was trying to do.

    Thank you again,
    Cyndi
