How to create two columns on a page using CSS

  1. Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to create two columns on a page using CSS?

I am wanting two columns on my Portfolio page.

    Thank you,
    Emily Jane

The blog I need help with is emilyjaneflorist.com.

  2. Hi !

You could make two columns using CSS but I think it would be simpler to insert a gallery with two columns. You'll also have the possibility to see te image and description more clearly when you click on them !

You can learn how to use galleries here : http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

    Hope this helps,

  3. Hi Emily,

You can create columns using HTML:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/#columns

You can also create HTML tables:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/#tables

However, if what you're wanting is to create two columns of your images on that page, I recommend using a gallery instead:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

You can select for the gallery to have two columns, and the advantage of using a gallery is it fixes the sizing and spacing so you don't have to mess around with that.

Finally, one last thing -- the them you are using, Reddle, has an unusually wide sidebar. If you want your main content to spread out more horizontally, you might prefer to switch to a similar theme with a wider main content area.

Here are a couple of suggestions (these are all simple themes like Reddle, with a large custom header and right sidebar):

Let me know if you have further questions!

  4. Thank you both very much! I ended up creating a gallery. Really appreciate your help.
