I have an extra (unwanted) page called "home" which appears at the top-left of my web-blog but does not appear in my dashboard under "manage pages"!
This "home" page is not private or password-protected. It unwittingly points to my blog homepage! I must have created it once by mistake in the past but now seem unable to delete it anymore. It's empty, has no children and I wish it to be removed. Can you me help please?
You are in the wrong forum. This forum is for blogs hosted at wordpress.COM. You need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support
True, my blog is indeed hosted hosted at "wordpress.com".
Could you give us a link to your blog, then, so that we can see how to help you? The link in your username goes to a different site. It would be even more helpful to change this so that it goes to your wordpress.com blog.

@livelife2thefull: That home tab is built into the theme - you can't remove it. You can switch to another theme with no such built-in tab.
Then he needs to change the link in his user name. As for the Home tab, also understand that it is the posts page, not a separate page that is manageable under pages
