How To Delete My Blog

  1. Hello. I'm writing because I created a blog but then decided it should have its own domain space, which I recently purchased. How do I delete the old blog? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is sevenatlanta.wordpress.com.

  2. Are you sure you want to delete the blog as opposed yo to setting up domain mapping from your free hosted WordPress.com blog to your new domain?

If you would like to use your domain to map to from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it you will first need to set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.

  3. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent. If you delete a blog you will not be able to get it back and no one else will be able to use that blog address. You must be sure you never want to use the blog again if you delete it. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

You may want to make the blog(s) private instead. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  4. Note: You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete it or to purchase an upgrade for it.
