how to disable carousel comments on wordpress.com

  1. On my blog I use several carousels, and I really like them (http://koenvanvelzen.wordpress.com/vrij-werk/a-new-leaf/), but I don't like it that it's possible to comment on the images. I found out there is a way to turn that off on wordpress.org blogs, but not how it's done on wordpress. com. There seems to be no way to use plugins. Anyone have a tip?

The blog I need help with is beeldhouwer.wordpress.com.

  2. You can only have attachment pages with no comment box if you create the post under a no-comments-allowed default (in Settings > Discussion), then override that setting for the particular post after you publish it (post editor > Discussion module > tick “Allow comments on this post”, or Posts > Edit > Quick Edit > tick “Allow comments”). http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/04/26/images-the-three-link-options/

  3. Of course I have done all of this long ago. but the problem here is that images in a gallery carousel keep showing up with a comment box, whatever I do. Now if you have wordpress.org, you can upload a plugin, (at first i didn't even know there was a difference between the two) to fix this. Does anyone know of a way to fix this on my wordpress.com blog, as there is no way to use plugins there?

  4. Not unless you first turn off commenting, as tt has mentioned above, and then upload the images to insert in your posts.

That is to say the comment box will continue to appear in the image carousel on images uploaded before you turned off commenting.

  5. OK, I'll take a look. Another easy solution, then? (Apart from having to upload everything all over again...) Thanks to the both of you.

  6. You're welcome and, unfortunately, no. Sorry for no better news.
