How to embed images into blog

  1. I just "claimed" my blog on technorati, and I'm not sure how to embed the image into the template of my blog, as it tells you to do. I may also like to do this with other things, like if I get a Creative Commons license, I'd need to figure how to put that on to. So I'd like to know how to embed images in general.

  2. technorati - Not sure why you're getting that message as they normally allow the Quick claim method for WordPress blogs where you give them your login and password for your blog. Takes about two seconds and I haven't heard of anyone needing to use any other method.

Images in Themes and Creative Commons - Add the image into a text widget and add that to your blog. Been discussed many times before.

  3. Caelesti's problem (above) has become my own. I just claimed my new WordPress blog at Technorati (and thus have become listed there via the Quick claim method to which moderator DrMike refers). But the reciprocal showing of my WP blog's participation in Technorati doesn't happen automatically. So, Quick claim isn't the end of the matter: I want to put the Technorati emblem that allows me to click up Technorati from my WordPress blog + my small picture that goes with it in Technorati, on my WordPress blog's Sidebar, not in a blog entry. This is unsatisfactory: "I haven't heard of anyone needing to use any other method."

Also as a newbie, the following part of the WordPress method I don't understand: "Images in Themes and Creative Commons - Add the image into a text widget and add that to your blog. Been discussed many times before."

Where will that "add" to my blog? In the Sidebar? Do I not get access to my own code to create features of my Sidebar?

  4. You can do this by simply adding the script, provided that it's not java script, to a text widget. I have added the tecnorati favorites button and the technoratit blog finder button to a text widget here http://timethief.wordpress.com and here http://coyotes.wordpress.com. You will also notice that I have added the html code for the creative commons licence to both blogs in text widgets too. And that you can insert images into text widgets. All this and more is covered in the FAQs. I would strongly recommend that you read the FAQs because I truly believe you will find your answers there.

  5. from the claim page, choose 'skip this step'

on the next page it gives you a special link to use, which you can stick in a text widget.

  6. I believe that the Technorati emblem is based on Javascript. (I can't load it hear since I'm on a locked down terminal with only one browser window so I can't double check for you.)User inputed JavaScripts are stipped out due to secuirty concerns. (It's real easy for someone to grab a login cookie if they weren't removed.)

This is unsatisfactory: "I haven't heard of anyone needing to use any other method."

Maybe unsatisfactory to you but it's the truth. :)

As for the sidebar, please check out Dashboard -> Presentation -> Sidebar Widgets. These little building blocks will allow you to custimze the sidebar of your blog. You can add inn images to a text widget.
