How to find new blogs?

    As much as I am a fan of Freshly Pressed for throwing up all these good quality blogs to dip into, I really wish there was also a daily/weekly list of new start-up blogs. Or maybe there is and I've missed it...? I've tried a few searches, but to no avail.

    To my mind, this would serve the dual purpose of highlighting to other WP users what's new out there, and also help new blogs get started. It can be very disheartening to get zero view counts day after day when you're new to the blogging game, particularly when you want to keep your blog anonymous and not link it up to your facebook or twitter accounts.

    Social networking is strictly give to get. It takes months of posting frequently to attract viewers who will actually submit comments. The best way to get comments on your own posts is to leave meaningful comments on blogs with similar content to what's in your own blog. Set a goal of commenting on "X" number of blogs weekly and carry through.

    The WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

    For Google searches use this format and replace "keyword" with whatever word you wish:
    keyword site:wordpress.com/

    Example search string
    Queen Victoria site:wordpress.com
    results > http://tinyurl.com/csaobsx

    For Topics (Tags page) searches see http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/

    It would still be nice to see a list of brand new blogs, just to see what's fresh out there.
    ...just imagine what THAT would do to my work procrastination strategy!!! lol.

    I guess I tto have said this too. This Ideas Forum is for posting Ideas and and suggestions for Staff to consider re: WordPress.com improvements (widgets, features, functions, etc.)
