How To Get A Post To Show Up On The Search Engines

  1. I couldn't find an answer looking at questions already posted, but if there is an FAQ for it please feel free to RTFM me and post the link...

Beyond being descriptive in my wordpress.com post, is there anything else I can do to increase the chances of that post being found on Google and other search engines?

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

These 5 videos introduce how Google discovers, crawls, indexes your site’s pages, and how Google displays them in search results. It also touches lightly upon challenges webmasters and search engines face, such as duplicate content http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/03/22/5google-webmasters-video-tutorials/

If you are using a WordPress.com theme good SEO is a given. However, going beyond the theme what the blogger has done within that structure is worth evaluating. Whether you write informative, persuasive or controversial content learning how search engines work, and how to apply basic SEO to you content will benefit your blog as it will increase traffic from targeted readers. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/10/21/two-seo-videos-for-bloggers/

I was asking an honest question. I posted the link to my thread so people could see the problem I was talking about so they might be able to offer me better suggestions. That is a standard thing to do when asking for technical help.

Thank you for the other links

  5. I understand you intent and you have read what Staff have stated. There is no guarantee that your post will be displayed where you wish it to be displayed in the SERPS (search engine page results). Also note that Google's Panda algorithm for detecting duplicate content and the other algorithms detect whether or not keyword categories and tags we assign to posts are supported by the text. Theoretically assigning relevent Tags/Categories to posts helps potential readers locate relevant content in search results, and increases the odds your content will be found by new readers. But these days search engines pay more attention to your keywords in your content than they do to your keywords in Tags/Categories.
