how to install genesis

  1. how to instal genesis
I purchased genesis and can not figure out how to install it into wordpress. I contacted genesis and they said that wordpress does not support it...then why is it offered and why do I have directions printed showing it can be? I am confused to say the least!

The blog I need help with is tinaemenes.wordpress.com.

  2. There is no upgrade that you can purchase that will provide FTP access and the ability to upload third party themes to a free hosted WordPress.com blog. To do that you must hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install.

    Reference links:

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are those found here > Appearance > Themes and there is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. For a comparison of WordPress.com free hosted blogs and WordPress.org installs for self hosting see here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  3. why does it look like it is a theme offered by wordpress? I found it through wordpress, I have instructions that say to go to wordpress dashboard and upload through appearance. If it is not supported through wordpress, it should be clearly stated that you have to have hire a web host. I just blew $75! Is wordpress.org difficult to setup?

  4. If you had read the information at the link I posted you would have the answer. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and operate on different software. You have to hire a web host and set up a WordPress.ORG install to be able to install any third party themes. Support for WordPress.ORG installs is here http://wordpress.ORG/support/

  5. Ok...so is wordpress.org user friendly or do I have to hire someone to set it up? I'm not proficient in codes etc.

  6. In order to use it, you have to have a webhosting account somewhere. Whether or not it's easy to install and maintain depends on that webhost.

    wordpress.org only provides the software.
