How to know how many custom menus are possible

Is there some way to tell how many custom menus are possible in a theme before you activate it? Some of them say in Details. Others don't.

    Thanks,

    Bill

The blog I need help with is defendingnewhampshire.wordpress.com.

These are the themes with custom menus > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-menu/
I'm not aware of any listing of how many csutom menus there are by theme.
I know Enterprise has 2 and Oxygen has 3. The rest I believe have only 1. However, I may stand to be corrected on that.

Well, that's a good start. Thanks. Maybe someone else will also weigh in w/ some other specifics.

It's difficult for Volunteers to provide help to bloggers on this peer support forum unless they are crystal clear about what they want and need help with. This thread will not be productive unless you clearly state exactly what you are looking with regard to custom menus in a theme.
What do you mean by specifics?
How does the specifics you refer to relate to custom menus?
How many custom menus do you think you need?

Does this help? A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or Tags pages and/or Custom Links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide.

    Here’s a link to a custom menu walkthrough > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/11/wordpress-com-custom-menu-walk-through/

There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

You can go to the Themes Showcase and use the searchbox with filter features to narrow your search. Each theme there has a description page and a live demo site.

My question is very specific: which of the many themes that allow custom menus allow more than one custom menu?

Some write-ups identify the number of custom menus allowed; others don't. If they are "Premium" themes, it is not possible to Activate them to see how many custom menus are allowed.

If the answer is, there's no way to know until you activate a theme, ok.

  6. Sorry, your question isn't specific, for the following reasons:
All themes support custom menus. Many themes support custom menus in the header area; most of them only one, a few of them more than one. All themes can display as many custom menus as you wish in the sidebar or other widget area. Finally, many inexperienced users confuse menus with menu items. So see here first:

I believe my original answer above is the correct answer. Themes Staff will respond to this thread and clarify for you, however, as it's the weekend I don't expect that will occur until Monday.

    re: Premium themes
If a Premium theme doesn’t work out we offer a full refund up to 30 days from your purchase. To cancel your purchase and obtain a refund, please use the Cancel button on the Store -> My Upgrades page. You can always switch to any other Premium theme or one of our other fantastic free themes.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/

Rread-access to the premium themes forum is now open to all users so you can search to see if your question has been previously asked and answered there. The premium theme forums are at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/ with separate sections for each theme.

If you do purchase a premium theme there is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum for your theme under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but do note that the premium theme must be active and you must be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it and post to it.

    Hope this helps.

  8. @TTTS: Bill is a 2-day old member, so I find it quite likely that he's confusing menus with menu items, so I think we don't really know what the correct answer is if we're not sure he's asking the right question!
As for which themes actually display more than one custom top menu, I had listed them at the bottom of this post:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/header-page-tabs/
(But as you know I've stopped this business, so the latest themes are missing.)

There's a feature called "custom menus" which allows you to combine pages, links and categories in an hierarchical fashion. In Sandbox and Toolkit, for instance, you can place one "custom menu" in your side bar. In Oxygen, you can place 3.

So I've just been asking whether there's some way to know in advance which themes that allow custom menus allow more than one.

Well that's not correct. TTTS and I have given give you all the answers: please study the links we gave.
