how to leave a comment/like without having to register

  1. Hi -
I just started a blog - and a couple of folks have told me that they are unable to leave a comment or a 'like' without registering. How do i workaround this? What settings do i need to set? - I bought my URL and not sure if this makes a difference.

I am afraid that members who are not wordpress will not stick around for this reason.

The blog I need help with is apuravida.com.

  2. Unfortunately, a few hundred people have complained of the same thing. First, go to Settings->Discussion and make sure you have enabled commenting for non-WP members. The second thing is, if the email they're using to leave the comment has ever been used by anyone to register at WP.com, they will have to sign in to WP.com to prove they are the same person. We all hate it, but there it is.

Thirdly, only WP.com members can Like posts as far as I'm aware. That hasn't changed. They can Facebook Like them if you enable that under your Sharing options.

  3. hi i went into settings and then discussions but i do not see exactly the section you advised to enable... what is the extact name of that box?

    thanks.

  4. Default article settings
    Make sure this is checked:
__Allow people to post comments on new articles
(These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)

    See here also:
    Other comment settings
Make sure these are not checked
__Other comment settings Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
__Users must be registered and logged in to comment
