How to link an external gallery?

1. Hi,
I have some problems with creating a gallery in my blog.
1. The pictures I attached to a post that appear small in the post can't be opened in full size, just in medium size. I can't figure out how to change that.

2. I'd love to create a gallery like in this blog:
http://web147.webgo24-server8.de/blog/wordpress/bilder/
These pictures are hosted by picasa.com and linked into the blog. I want to do the same thing, if possible.

Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is du09.wordpress.com.

2. Sorry, here's the link to my blog:

3. 1.) I know this was reported previously with Chaotic Soul, but thought it had been resolved. Contact Support directly. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

2.) In order to use the Gallery feature on your WordPress.com blog, the images have to be uploaded together in the same Post or Page. With 3G of space in the Media Library, if you resize and optimize your images before uploading, it will take a very long time before you run out of room.

Individual images not in a Gallery can be linked externally if the hosting site allows hotlinking.

4. 1. When inserting the post, make sure that "link to file" is selected before inserting the image. WordPress will remember that choice until you change it. For existing images in posts, click open the post for edit, click on the image, then click on the edit image icon that appears at upper left, then click on "link to image" and then click "update" and then click "update post."

2. That blog is a self-hosted wordpress blog and they have a lot more freedom and options over blogs hosted here at wordpress.COM. That blog is most likely using a gallery plugin of some sort, and we cannot use plugins here.

There was a trick that worked here for a while using class="thickbox" , which made an image open in a sort of box over the page you were on, but I can't get it to work right now. Perhaps it has been disabled, or perhaps it does not work with the themes I've tried it on just now.

5. My stuff above applies NOT to the gallery, but to individually inserted images.

6. On this Page I demonstrate displaying photos on a Page from Posts that don't actually use the Gallery function in the Post where they originally appear by including the Post ID number in the Gallery shortcode. It works for images uploaded to your WordPress.com blog, but not images linked and inserted into Posts externally. (I think part of the reason is the fact that WordPress.com can't resize external images.)

@tsp-I seem to remember that in order for that lightbox-esque trick to work, you had to have the SocialVibe widget enabled.

7. @jennifer, yes I just went searching and found that. I hadn't remembered.

8. okay, thanks guys

9. You're welcome.
