How to link my Etsy page with photos to my blog

I would like my etsy page to always show up in sidebar or someplace on my blog page . I copied the code from etsy.com, but don't know where to paste it in my blog.
    Anybody know?

The blog I need help with is davidjacobsonglass.wordpress.com.

  2. If the sidebar is good enough then that's the place to be.

    See if this helps?

If it all gets too weird post back though.

It gets to weird , and not sure it's what I want. Want some of objects that I'm selling on etsy.com to always appear on the blog page.
Etsy calls it Etsy Mini and here is the script they tell me to copy and then paste somewhere, but where?

    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.etsy.com/etsy_mini.js'></script><script type='text/javascript'>new EtsyNameSpace.Mini(9222304, 'shop','gallery',4,1).renderIframe();</script>

    Thanks for your help,.

  4. Java script / iframe and other security problems are stripped out - you need to have a rather plain html type link.

    auxclass,

Sorry, I don't know what that means

  6. Etsy Mini code cannot be used here, just straight links. So if the Etsy Mini displays a scrolling display for example that cannot be used here. If you have an example of an image on Etsy you want linking toin your sidebar you can copy the details here or send them into Support (ask for me so you get the answer I mean) and I will sort that for you.
Easier to start from something working.

    Mark,
Can you help me with the last post, to continue

  11. David, there are a couple ways to do this. One would be to use the image widget and include an image of one of your pieces of art and then link that image to your Etsy shop. The image widget makes it quite easy to do that since you don't have to know any code.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/

The other way, is to use a text widget. In the text widget, you need to enter the HTML for whatever you are doing whether it would be just a text link "Visit my Etsy Shop" or whether you wanted an image linked to your etsy shop and some intro text.

For the text widget option, take a look at the following support page which explains how to use the text widget and also explains how to use the visual post editor to make the code so that you don't have to know any HTML.

    thesacredpath,
    Thanks,
The image widget sounds like the way I'll go since I don't have to know any code.
    Thanks for the help.

  13. You don't have to know code to use a text widget. This is a workaround I invented:

Just go to Write Post, as if you were doing a normal post. Put in everything you want in your Etsy widget and adjust the formatting, always keeping in mind how narrow your sidebar and therefore your text widget is. Once it's more or less the way you want, click to the HTML editor, copy all the text, and then paste that in the Text Widget. Once it's perfect, just delete the draft Post.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

  15. Let us know how it works for you.

  16. I am also trying to link my etsy page to my wordpress blog, using 'etsy mini'. Since it seems this cannot be done, I tried creating a post, switching it to html, then copying and pasting that text into a text widget. However, in the post (before switching it to html) the spacing looks perfect, but when I inserted into text widget and went to my home page to view it, the spacing is off...how do I fix this?
    Thanks:)

  17. I'd really like to use the Etsy Mini feature, but I can't get it to work. Wish there was less primitive way to link to my store than a static picture link in the text widget box.

    Boo.

  18. millyonair,
    Hi,

Wish there was less primitive way to link to my store than a static picture link in the text widget box.

It is possible to have a more beautiful Etsy widget than the plain image version.

    See the code below:

    [gigya src="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f05200aa.swf" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="346"]

I leaned this trick from Panos!

It produces an Etsy widget - just copy and paste it in a post, save as draft and preview it to see that it works in a wordpress.com blog (delete the post later).

I used davidjacobsonglass's Etsy feed to create this widget.

If you paste the url of your Etsy page here, I can create an Etsy widget that will work in a wordpress.com blog.

    Variations are available.

    @davidjacobsonglass,

The code I pasted will show your Etsy images. If you want variations just ask.

  19. modroxearrings,
    Sorry I missed your entry.

Please view my entry above if you still want to show your Etsy photos in your blog.

  20. sanjidas,

"If you paste the url of your Etsy page here, I can create an Etsy widget that will work in a wordpress.com blog. "

I would love a widget that works in WP: My Etsy shop is

    http://www.fondlemyart.etsy.com

Will this auto update when I change my listings?

    THANK YOU!

  21. fondlemyart,

    Hi,
Are you up for a little coding adventure?

Take a look at the embeds in this post:
How to add a Tumblr feed in a wordpress.com blog

Choose Vuvox Express/ Springwidgets/Widgetbox/Takeslides and you can have your Etsy widget.

Make a widget and if you can't figure out how to convert the code they give you for your wordpress.com blog, paste the code here. I will modify the code for you.

And if I can't, we can request Panos, who can probably solve it!

  22. Oh, I forgot to answer you, yes, of course it will auto-update!

I'm going to try this also.
Sanjidas, any questions I have, I'll ask okay?

  24. sanjidas,

I'm a bit on the slow side when it comes to this stuff. I used Vuvox Express and this is the code they give :

    <object width="400" height="346"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f71fa3b3.swf"/><embed src="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f71fa3b3.swf" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="346"></embed></object>

I have no idea what to with it now :(

Thanks so much for your help!

    fondlemyart

  25. [gigya src="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f71fa3b3.swf" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="346"]

This is the code that will work in wordpress.com.

    Sanjidas,,
This is fantastic. to put this on my blog off to the right, permanently, where do I embed the code.
    Thanks for figuring this out.
I did place it in my new post area, saved as a draft to see what it looks like, but I don't want it for a post. But permanently off to the side.
    thanks,

  27. Just paste the code in a text widget, save it and view! :)

Thanks for thanking me! And there's one more thing...

You have to change the height and width of your widget, because it is probably too big for the side bar.

Paste this code to make it smaller:
    [gigya src="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f71fa3b3.swf" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="220" height="170"]

    Sanjidas,
I did that, but it's someone else's page now! Maybe fondelmyart's by mistake.
right size though. Can you fix it so it's mine?
Also, how do I set it up so when someone clicks on this widget, it takes them to my real etsy.com page?

  29. sanjidas you rock!! Thank you...

davidjacobsonglass has interesting question about linking to the etsy page...

all etsians...this works nicely, but doesn't update from your cutsom shop order like a mini does ... it updates from your currently for sale section so it will show the last things posted...just fyi :)

  30. davidjacobsonglass,

Can you paste the code of your Etsy? Then I can make it smaller. Or if it is the same widget I posted before, then here it is in a smaller size:

    [gigya src="http://www.vuvox.com/presentations/02f05200aa.swf" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="220" height="170"]

    fondlemyart,
The Etsy widget I made shows links on top of a photo when zoomed. If it doesn't show then you can always use a text link below the widget.

    Thanks for your appreciation!
