How to make full width posts or increase width in The Nuntius Theme.

  1. Hi,

    I am using nuntius theme for my blog awesomeaj.com and I want to increase the width of mail content column in all pages including the home page and want to decrease the side spaces. I am not want a complete full width but want to cover 90% of the page with main column and sidebar.

    Can anyone help me. I have custom CCS upgrade.

    The blog I need help with is awesomeaj.com.

  2. I checked this out and tried a few experiments, and I found that it is not a simple task to change the width of the Nuntius theme because of how the original theme CSS was setup.

    I did try it, and I came up with an example that you might be able to use but also that you will have to continue working on yourself (or possibly hire a designer to help you). One thing to keep in mind with the following example is that you will have to give up precise control of some of the heights of things if you move to a fluid width. For example, you can't get really precise control of what part of the featured image is displayed in the slider and also the images may look pixelated at large screen sizes because they will get stretched when using a fluid width. Also, the height of the Top Articles section will vary. You should also note that I based my example on the current setup of the http://awesomeaj.com/ only. You may need to make additional adjustments on your own.

    Here is the example I came up with:

    #header .wrap,
    #header .wrap .header-link,
    #menu-primary div,
    #container,
    .breadcrumbs,
    #footer .wrap,
    body.attachment #content,
    #menu-secondary .wrap {
    	width: 90%;
    }
    #feature,
    .hentry {
    	width: 100%;
    }
    #container {
    	background-color: #fff;
    	background-position: right top;
    	background-size: contain;
    }
    #content {
    	width: 65%;
    }
    #sidebar-primary {
    	width: 35%;
    }
    #sidebar-primary .widget {
    	width: 94%;
    }
    .category-section,
    #more-articles {
    	width: 96%;
    }
    .category-section .hentry,
    .category-section .post-list {
    	width: 43%;
    }
    #header .wrap {
    	background-repeat: repeat-x;
    	background-position: center center;
    }
    .slideshow-set {
    	width: 65%;
    }
    #sidebar-feature {
    	width: 35%;
    }
    .slideshow-items,
    .slideshow-item,
    .slideshow-items .entry-title {
    	width: 100%;
    }
    #sidebar-feature .hentry {
    	width: 84%;
    }

    If you need further help with small changes or things we can help teach you so that you can go forward on your own, then we can help you here.

    However, if you need a lot of design help going forward, then I am going to recommend that you hire a designer for help at http://en.support.wordpress.com/customize-my-site/request-theme-customization/

    I hope the example helps illustrate how you could move forward if you want to make the change.
