It just doesn't embed the player.

MixCloud is not one of the WordPress.com supported embeds. The shortcode you are trying to use does not exist.
We have a list of audio shortcodes that are available at:

No, I might have been confused with the google findings and it must have been wp.org telling me how to embed the mixcloud shortcut.
