How to place video side by side ?

  1. Hi guys,

    I wanted to do a video gallery & I want to place 9 videos in a 3 x 3 grid. Everytime I place a new video it is placed at the bottom in one column, I cannot placed the video side by side.

    I make a small thumbnail for the video but how do I make the video player enlarged upon clicking of the thumbnail ?

    Thanks

    The blog I need help with is rmkstudio.wordpress.com.

  3. Thanks raincoaster. I read some tutorials it says that we need a link to some video hosting server.

    I know how to link the video from there to WordPress. My problem is how do I place, say 3 videos in one row ?

    Thanks

  5. The themes size videos for the maximum width of the post or page area by default which means you are going to have to resize them.

    To get them side-by-side, the best way is to use an HTML table (3 columns) and then insert the videos into the cells of the table. Since the wordpress editor does not have a table function, you will either have to hand code the HTML, or use one of the online HTML table creators. This is one I've used before and it works well: http://www.quackit.com/html/html_table_generator.cfm . After creating the table, you copy all the code and then insert it into the post in the HTML tab.

    You will have to do some playing around with the video widths to get them and the table to fit in the post/page area without breaking the theme. If the table is too wide for the available area, it will break the theme.

    Getting them to enlarge by clicking on them I don't think is possible, and the video is going to be so small that I don't think they will be able to select the full-screen mode - if the video player has that feature.

  6. <table width="100%">
    <tr>
    <td align="left" valign="top" width="50%">
    1ST VIDEO HERE
    </td>
    <td align="left" valign="top" width="50%">
    2ND VIDEO HERE
    </td
    </tr>
    </table>
  7. I agree with tsp: there is no way to enlarge the videos by clicking on them.
    But if you still want 3 videos across, then you have to resize the videos before you put them into your table.
    Something like this:

    Shortcode for youtube videos:
    [youtube=VIDEO_URL_HERE&w=PIXEL_NUMBER_HERE]
    Shortcode for vimeo videos:
    [vimeo http://vimeo.com/VIDEO_NUMBER_HERE w=PIXEL_NUMBER_HERE]

  8. Thanks 1tess, johnlvs2run, t3ck & thesacredpath for helping.

    I think I did not make myself clear, actually what I wanted is for the videos to remain permanent at its place.

    But with the above suggested method, the posted videos will be pushed down once someone makes a post, right ?

    My intention is to have the videos permanent at the top and the posting below the rows of videos something like this:

    http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us

    Is the above possible ?

    Thank you.
