How to prevent hackers?

  1. Is it possible to hack into someone's account? And even if it is possible, how do I prevent my account from getting hacked? There is nothing too much valuable in my blog, but still, I do not want anyone else to play around with my blog.

Also, will an ordinary visitor who is not on WordPress get my username?? What about visitors who are in WordPress? Will they get my username? (My username is not the same as my display name).

What about the email address?? Will anyone be able to figure out the email address I used to sign up for this account?

There is a hacker behind me. I don't think he will hack my blog, but still, I am concerned.
Also, there seems to be a mystery person checking out my blog at times. This has started to worry me.

So, how do I prevent my account from getting hacked?

  2. Hi. I couldn't find a more recent topic, but I thought you might benefit from the insight:

  3. Thank you very much!

But what about my other questions??

Will an ordinary visitor who is not on WordPress get my username?? What about visitors who are in WordPress? Will they get my username? (My username is not the same as my display name).

What about the email address?? Will anyone be able to figure out the email address I used to sign up for this account?

  4. anonymousarjun.wordpress.com is no longer available.

The authors have deleted this blog.

Since you have deleted your site, not much to see and since we don't know your URL none of our answers above may be relevant. For accurate help we need the URL beginning with http of the blog in question to provide accurate answers.

  5. Quillrider, blogging is not for everyone,
and every blogger is at risk at feeling uncomfortable and may have to deal with security breaches or even harassment.

If having an account makes you feel very un-secure... just don't have one, right now.
    Its not worth it.

---This is a point to consider with any Internet account.

  6. I got my answer.

    Anyway, thank you.

  7. For the benefit of other people reading this thread, people can figure out your email if you leave a comment on their own blog. If you leave a comment on someone else's blog, the Gravatar is tied to the email so people can tell that a group of comments that all have the same avatar were made by someone using a certain email, even if that person changes the name they put in.

If you use a theme that identifies the author, anyone can see your username.
