How to put music and writing on a page?

  1. I made a page, then added and Mp3, and then it would not let me write anything else in the box. Do I have to make a sub-post for content or mp3's? if so, how do I do this? My site is http://www.thejunipertrees.com and the page is "Jenna for Hire" and has only words right now.

The blog I need help with is thejunipertrees.com.

  2. Have your purchased the space upgrade or not? Please see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/

  3. yes I did. and I was able to put audio in. But once I did, it wouldn't let me put text in. Weird. So then I thought, okay I will make a page with the text, and then put in a sub-post with the music, but i couldn't see how to do that...

  4. I'm surprised you could not include text. That's very odd. Have your tried editing the page and then inserting your text?

  5. Okay I figured it out! I just needed to delete the URL, which made it embedded instead of an outside link. For some reason that kept it in text form and I was able to type around it. Thank you for encouraging me to mess with it.

I have a couple other questions, maybe you know the answers?
    1) Can one make a sub-post that goes under a specific page?
    2) Can one change the order of one's pages?

    Thanks!

  6. The answer to both of your questions is "yes". The best approach is to create a custom menu to achieve this. Staff have provided help for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

    What’s critical is:
    (1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
    (2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and custom links in your custom menu as well. You choose the order in which to display the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide.

can you actually have music playing while people are reading the blog? i uploaded music but you have to press on the link and then it takes you to another page. i wanted people to go to my home page and have music start playing right away. is that possible? and then they can cruise around the blog while the songs play?

  8. Hell there,
Many of us consider autoplay music on blogs to be annoying, as we are either already listening to our own music or to blissful silence, and suddenly and unexpectedly experiencing someone else's musical choices is not a pleasant experience. The WordPress audio player doesn't allow autoplay. See here for an alternative:

  9. Also, if when you upload a track, you erase the url link, it won't open in a new page when they play your track. They still won't be able to go to other pages on your site, but at least they can stay on that page...

Thanks so much for sharing your experience so others can refer to it.
