How to recover a "reserved site"?

  1. I registered a site, had it for a while but didn't get to use it, so i deleted it. I now need to register and use the same site but the message "Sorry this site is reserved" appears.

It doesn't show up on "my blogs" list. I assume that it is still "reserved" for me, but how do i recover it?

  2. If you deleted the site you now want back, it cannot be done. Once you delete a site/URL it is gone forever. There were clear warnings not only in the delete site page, but in the confirmation email that you received that deleting a site was permanent.

You will have to create a new site with a different name, perhaps a variation on the original name.

  3. If your delete the site then the notice would say that. It takes 3 warnings to delete a site and the URLs are never recycled. So as you have a "reserved" notice you did not delete it. If and only if the reserved site is the same one as your username ie. the matching blog then you may contact Staff by email support@wordpress.com to obtain it.

  4. Thank you thesacrepath and timethief for your help.

Ok, if i havenĀ“t deleted it, why doesn't it show up on my blogs list (to my username i have more than 1 blog) ?

As timethief says, i could contact support, but the reserved site is not the same as my username.

Is there a way support could verify that i have once registered that site with my username?

    Thank you!

  5. When we create an account here the unique identifier is the email address we use. If you still have that sign on information for that blog under another username then that's one thing but if you don't it's another.
    See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

  6. If the site is not the same as your username, and the username that is the same as the site name has been grabbed by another user, then that site name would be reserved for them.

    What is the site name?

  7. The site name is simaooliveira.wordpress.com

  8. Yes, there is a user with that name. Apparently they set up that username/account three years ago.

  9. But the site simaooliveira.wordpress.com does not exist. And i did register it with my identifier email adress.

    Already contacted wordpress.com support.

Thank you so much for your help! Will post here when replied by support.

  10. The site is reserved for the person with this username: simaooliveira .

You say you deleted that site so it makes no difference. You cannot get a deleted site back, and staff are not going to let you have a site with a URL that matches someone else's username.

  11. How would you like it if you have not registered a blog with a URL of ritafresh.wordpress.com and I come in and register that blog URL and put adult material all over it? People would then mentally link you with my adult related site and you would be seriously upset and demand that staff take that blog away from me.

  12. I entirely agree with you and wordpress on the recycling-blog-names policy. And i'm glad it exists and works.

    Nevertheless,

I was not aware that the username existed when i registered that site. I registered it this year of 2011 and apparently the user simaooliveira set up that username/account three years ago.

If that site was reserved for that user, why was i able to register it?

    Thank you.

  13. I'm sorry, it's me, but entered with another username that i manage.

  15. The system wouldn't have allowed you to register a name that was already registered.

Perhaps you registered something similar (off by a letter or two)?

  16. I don't recall doing that, but it is possible. I also don't see other possibility.

Thank you very much for all your help.

  17. You're welcome!
