how to remove my domain from "primary blog" setting?

  1. Hello,
I used to run my wordpress blog on my own hosting/domain (let's call it http://www.mydomain.com), while having an empty wordpress.com account at the same time (used only for Akismet API Key).
Now I want to switch to wordpress.com's free hosting, so that my new blog url would be something like myblog.wordpress.com.
The fact is that my old domain's url appears in the primary blog setting (under the profile section of the dashboard), and apparently I can't change it - I can only add a new blog to the list (creating a new one), but there is no way to remove http://www.mydomain.com from the drop down menu.

Any suggestion about how to do that?

    Thank you!

  2. You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.

If you don't understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

  3. I' having a similar problem, using the api key from a wordpress.com blog on a self hosted blog adds the self hosted to the list of blogs in the .com dashboard which then can't be unlinked or linked to a different blog (which I need to do). The problem is with the .com, not being aable to unlink.

  4. Exactly, that's the point!
I've tried to leave the API Key field blank on the hosted blog and to save the settings (no more key, no more linking - I thought), but it didn't worked at all. I've deleted all the files on my hosting, but again nothing's happened :(
So I suppose the problem is at wordpress.com's side.

  5. Any news?

  6. Questions with the API key have to be dealt with directly by staff. Sorry, but the volunteers in the forum can't help you. Use your Contact Support button.
