How to send emails to followers

  1. Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to send emails to those who have subscribed to your blog. I understand that when you post something new, it will send an email to your followers.

That is well and good, but can you just send an email? For instance, my company has a new promotion and we don't want to post it on our website (or not yet, anyway) but we want to send our followers the info so they get it first.

Is there a way to do that? I know plug-ins via WP.org make this possible, is there a way on WP.com?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is greensfelder.wordpress.com.

  2. There is no means of automatically email spamming those who provided an email address only for the purpose of receiving your blog posts and for no other reason. I live in Canada where using an email address for any purpose other than what it was specifically provided for is illegal.

Bottom line: WordPress.com is not the blogging platform for email marketing campaigns. There isn't any automatic means of doing this on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. There is no FTP access and no plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ FTP access, and plugins are available only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.
