How to track downloads from link to a Zip file

  1. I need to provide a Zip file for my viewers to download, so, since this file type isn't allowed, I thought I would use my Dropbox account to host it.

I would like to learn about the best way to track how many people download the file... place it on its own page?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is falun0inlandnw.wordpress.com.

  2. You can upload the documents to your WordPress.com blog using the Add Media icon. For a list of filetypes we support, see Accepted Filetypes.

  3. Thanks, but did you even read my question?

I know the file types that are supported. As I stated in my original post, I need to provide a link to a ZIP file for my viewers to download. Because it is not an allowed file type, I plan to host it on Dropbox, and put a link on a blog page.

My question is, how can I track how many people have clicked on the download link?

  4. You can look at Clicks on your stats and keep a running tally in a text file or something, but there is no automated way to do that on the WordPress side. There might be on the Dropbox side.
