How to transfer followers and likes from wordpress.com to self-hosted site?

  1. Hi,

I am in the process of switching to a self-hosted site from my wordpress.com blog. Is there a way I could transfer my wordpress.com followers and likes to my self-hosted site?

My wordpress.com site is eagerexplorer.wordpress.com, while my self-hosted site is eagerexplorer.com.

    Thanks a lot!

The blog I need help with is eagerexplorer.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,

Yes, there's a way! What you have to do is post here with the url to your old and new blog, and make sure you already have Jetpack installed on the new one.

Which I suppose... you already did! :)

I've notified the Staff and all we have to do is wait for them to finalize the transfer. Once they're done, they'll let you know here.

  3. Looking forward to the move. I was getting worried that the likes won't be transferred to the new site and I couldn't find a solution online for that.

    Thanks a lot, hafizr! :)

  4. Hey Karen,

Yes, I can do that for you. Just let me know when you're ready. Cheers!

  5. Hi druesome,

I already have the jetpck plugin installed. Kindly transfer the likes and followers please. Thank you! :-)

  6. Hey there Karen!

I went ahead and moved your old blog's subscribers to the new one at "eagerexplorer.com". Let me know if things are looking good on your end.

If you experience issues with this or have any questions about Jetpack, you can contact the Jetpack support team here:

    Thank you!

  7. Thanks for implementing the transfer!

  8. @druesome-with the new information that WP.com users can move their own followers to their new self-hosted sites, are they able to also move Likes themselves, or is that something that Staff still need to do for them?

  9. Hey Karen:

    Thanks for implementing the transfer!

    You're welcome!

    JenT:

Are they able to also move Likes themselves, or is that something that Staff still need to do for them?

I'm afraid that WordPress.com likes aren't something that can be transferred to another blog.

  10. Hi druesome,

Thanks for moving my followers. However, I have new followers on my wordpress.com blog, and I tried transferring them to the self-hosted site using the instructions from JenT, but I can't find my wordpress.com blog on the drop-down list.

Is there something else I need to do? Thanks! :)

  11. Hey there,

Sorry about the trouble you had with the migration tool. It's still a bit new and similar bugs have been reported by other users. I went ahead and transferred your remaining subscribers to the new site. Thank you!

  12. I hope the bug gets fixed soon. Thanks again for the transfer!

  13. Me too! You're welcome. :)
