alexgirl82hi, if you purchase a domain through wordpress.com ($17 to buy your own domain at sign up) can you then transfer it to a wordpress.org self hosted site?

You can leave it hosted here ($5 for domain registration is a screaming deal) and just point the domain at your new web host. People do it all the time.
