How to turn off live preview in the new 'New Post' page?

  1. I haven't blogged in about a month, and while I appreciate everything that wordpress does to make its site and our blogging experience better, I do not like the new 'New Post' page with the live preview.

It lags my browser out completely and I want an option to disable it. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? I'm using the latest version of firefox.

The blog I need help with is nowandgwen.com.

  2. I don't know what you are referring to. Are you creating posts using the "quick-post" on the home page opf WordPress.com? If so then simply go to your own dashboard and create a post there by using the fully equipped editors.

If you are referring to the "get instant feedback" that appears after we publish a post you can disable it. > Dashboard > Users > Personal Settings http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/get-instant-feedback-when-you-publish/

If both of my guesses are wrong then will you please provide more details?

  3. Hi timethief :) Seems that you answer a lot of questions around here.

I'm not referring to the get instant feedback that appears after you publish a post, as I've commented on that before in the suggestions forum.

I've tried getting back to this particular new post page I'm talking about and now can't find it.

In the end, I had to close out my browser using my task manager, and then continue editing the post that was saved in drafts, which took me back to the normal 'new post' type page.

The page I was on was similar to the quick post page you mentioned (that has most of the same features of the full editor, btw), but below the text box had a live preview of your new post, which is what was lagging my browser out completely.

  4. Oh wait.

It was the quick post page -- the rest of it has finally loaded in my browser.

    I won't be using that again! :)

  5. I never use it because I don't just post "asides". If the day ever comes that "quick-post" on the front page of WordPress.com becames the only way we can post to our blogs than I will move my domains off of free hosting here at WordPress.com.

  6. You and me both!

Thanks for helping me figure out it was only the quick post feature and not the new post page I was used to disappearing! :)

  7. You're welcome and have a great rest of the weekend. :)
