How to write next to a gallery?

  1. Hi,
I want to make a 1 column gallery but when I do that, it looks weird because the text is under them. Is there a way to align the picures to left and write next to them?

The blog I need help with is otogun.com.

  2. Howdy!

Galleries automatically take up the full width of the content column.

You could try inserting smaller photos individually, wrapped in some additional styles (using the Text editor view) to group and float them alongside your content:

    <br /> <div style="width: 200px; float: left; margin-right: 15px;"><br /> *insert your images here*<br /> </div><br />

You can adjust the width, position (left or right), and margin as necessary to better fit your theme. It's a bit of work if you want to do this across multiple galleries, but do-able.

You could also use the Custom CSS upgrade to target the gallery class and make the same style adjustments. There's still some coding involved, but then you wouldn't have to add the same DIV wrapper, or insert images individually.

  3. Just to clarify, the default thumbnail grid Gallery does not take up the full width of the content column; only the mosaic tile types do that. :)

Using the CSS that @sixhours gave above, you can create a 1-column, default thumbnail Gallery at the side which would then allow you to write text next to it. However, as she said, you would need to do add this CSS for each Gallery, or purchase the CSS upgrade to create a specific gallery class for your theme's stylesheet to do it globally.
