HTML formatting gets destroyed

  1. Why does this:

<blockquote><br /> <p>Indicted War Criminal Volleyball was a peculiar enough idea, but my sense of cognitive dissonance reached its height in the arts-and-crafts room. I just couldn't wrap my mind around the image of deposed army generals working with the construction paper, plastic-tipped scissors, and pots of glue that were strewn around the Formica tabletops, or messing around with the clay that was somewhat lumpily stored on shelves to the side of the room.</p></blockquote><br /> <p><a href="http://www.slate.com/id/2133918/entry/2133919/">Deeply interesting stuff</a>.</p>

    Get turned into this:

This is a new problem; and it happens when I post via Zoundry or the wordpress.com web-interface.

A shiny new donkey for whoever helps me fix this, or brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

  2. Actually, I've noticed the built-in WordPress editor is not very versatile for complicated HTML codes. Plus, moderators inform us that for some security reasons such HTML customization is not possible.

    So.. :s

  3. Blockquotes are allowed, but I wouldn't try implementing them with the rich text editor. Switch to the basic editor and try again.

  4. I had this happen when copying and pasting text from a pdf file. It kept adding &gt to the front of the block of text and the end i think, and it wouldn't let me format it as blockquote not even if I did it through the html editor manually.

So i pasted the pdf text into notepad, took out line breaks, and pasted it in to the post box, worked fine that way.

  5. And today it's not a problem, luckily. I guess it just must have been one of those strange things that goes away by itself.

  6. Im very frustrated, I can make a space to format my code using <br> tags. WordPress just removes them completely.

  7. Try this <p> </p>

  8. <br> is incorrect for HTML 4.01 and XML. It's now <br />
