html table not showing on page

  1. hi, i'm trying not to jump out the window. just spent the last few hours creating an html table with images and captions. the page on my blog is under the tab "absolutes and omnibi", and the page that isn't working is titled "dark horse omnibi". i created the table on a html table website and copy and pasted the code onto the html editor, then added the images and captions under the visual editor.

    it worked just fine for the dc and marvel pages under the same tab. when i go into edit the page everything is there just find, but when i click "view page" it's empty.

    is something wrong with the code? i'm going crazy trying to figure this out. i even just copied and pasted the table that worked for the other 2 pages and just replaced the images and captions. maybe it just doesn't like dark horse comics.

    thanks, ac

    The blog I need help with is absoluteomnibus.com.

  2. I don't see any table tags on your Dark Horse page (using View Source in Google Reader). Did you take them out since you posted here?

    Although you didn't ask, I'll add that I find the text in your sidebars rather hard to read due to the use of covers as background.

    Interesting site, though!

  3. Hi,acfitness

    I think, you can try with the following table attributes '<table border="5">'

    Thanks

  4. none of the suggestions worked. i know it's something wrong in the html code. i'm probably not explaining myself correctly.

    thanks anyway.

  5. If you can paste the code here between backticks, those little marks usually on the same key as the ~, then we can look at it and give informed opinions. So do Backtick, all the code in the Post box, Backtick and someone will look at it.

    ALso, when talking about specific pages, just give the link to the page, starting with http.

  6. @AC, there is a lot of cleanup that needs to be done in your code and we can start with the following and then go from there with the other issues (which might be fixed by this round of cleanup). Right now each of your table cell contents looks like this (or similar):

    <td><strong></p>
    <div id="attachment_1604" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 60px"><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-1604" href="http://absoluteomnibus.com/absolutes-and-omnibi/dark-horse-omnibus-editions/pred1/"><img class="size-full wp-image-1604" title="pred1" src="http://absoluteandomnibus.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/pred11.png?w=50&h=74" alt="" width="50" height="74" /></a></strong><p class="wp-caption-text">Predator Vol. 1</p></div>
    <p></strong></td>

    Strong tags have to be within p tags. P tags cannot be nested within strong tags and also there are far too many strong tags scattered throughout the code. Also, div tags cannot be nested in p tags. P tags have to be nested within divs. The following is what the above code, corrected, should look like. Use it as a guide and correct the code in all your table cells. (I would suggest copying all your code out and pasting it into a plain text file and saving it just in case something goes wrong.)

    <div id="attachment_1604" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 60px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-1604" href="http://absoluteomnibus.com/absolutes-and-omnibi/dark-horse-omnibus-editions/pred1/"><img class="size-full wp-image-1604" title="pred1" src="http://absoluteandomnibus.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/pred11.png?w=50&h=74" alt="" width="50" height="74" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text"><strong>Predator Vol. 1</strong></p></div>

  7. Shoot, I left the opening and closing TD tags out of the corrected example. This is the corrected example.

    <td>
    <div id="attachment_1604" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 60px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-1604" href="http://absoluteomnibus.com/absolutes-and-omnibi/dark-horse-omnibus-editions/pred1/"><img class="size-full wp-image-1604" title="pred1" src="http://absoluteandomnibus.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/pred11.png?w=50&h=74" alt="" width="50" height="74" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text"><strong>Predator Vol. 1</strong></p></div>
    </td>
